Family Fun Day at ConnJam 2012

ConnJam, sponsored by the Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America offers a fun-filled family day with a midway of over 100 exhibitions, activities, and demonstrations, including bouncy house, inflatable obstacle courses and challenges, climbing wall, Scouting museum, Indian village with dancing, Hawaiian Village, greyhound demo (10 am), exotic animal show (11 am), a 1860’s baseball game (1 pm), magic show (2 pm) and more.  There is a dedicated area for elementary school students. Food and drink is available for purchase all day.  A stage show featuring Flippenout trampoline acrobatics and fireworks starts at 8 pm.

The latest addition to the program midway at ConnJam 2012 is a team of professional slackliners from Gibbons Slacklines in Colorado who will show their skills and allow everyone to try it for themselves.  Slacklining is the act of balancing along a narrow, flexible piece of webbing which is low to the ground and usually anchored between two trees.  Originating in the climbing world, slacklining has evolved into a cross trainer, backyard activity and sport all of its own.  Slacklining was featured in this year's Super Bowl when Andy Lewis, a six-time world champion in the extreme sport, presented his show-stealing performance as a part of Madonna's half time show.

This is the largest Scouting event in Connecticut and the public is invited.  With nearly 5,000 Scouts on site on Saturday and nearly 3,000 camping for the weekend, ConnJam promise to be a huge Scouting gathering and an amazing event to experience.  A full event schedule is at www.ctyankee.org/connjam.
