West River Employees Allowed to Get Back to Work

The following is a press release from New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199, SEIU

A three-judge panel convened by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York denied the HealthBridge’s motion for a stay of an injunction against the nursing home corporation.

The injunction orders HealthBridge to reinstate striking workers to their previous positions to work under their original contract until a final decision is reached in the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) case against the company.

In his order denying a stay, Chatigny said “Given [the company’s] efforts to encourage strikers to return to work, their argument that reinstatement poses a risk to patient welfare rings hollow.”
