Route 162 Detour Extended Through August

Route 162 detour will remain in effect while a new sewer line is installed.

The detour on Route 162 for emergency repairs to the bridge over the Oyster River on the Milford-West Haven town line has been extended through August while crews install a new sewer line.

The existing detour will be in effect Monday to Friday through Aug. 26 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Route 162 will be closed to through traffic or reduced to a single lane, with alternating traffic.

Milford police have advised drivers to be ready for significant delays, both on Route 162 and the detour sideroads.

Eastbound Detour

  • Route 162 left onto Anderson Avenue
  • Anderson Avenue right onto Merwin Avenue
  • Merwin Avenue right onto Oxford Road
  • Oxford Road to the West Haven line continued onto West Haven Woodmont Road
  • West Haven Woodmont Road left onto Route 162
Westbound Detour

The new sanitary sewer will serve approximately 25 residents and commercial properties on Rosemary Court, Grove Street and New Haven Avenue (Route 162) between Anderson Avenue and the bridge.
