Controversial Affordable Housing Complex Heads to Public Hearing Tuesday

Development proposed for Pond Point Avenue.

On the Milford Planning and Zoning Board’s agenda Tuesday night is a public hearing on a proposed affordable housing complex on Pond Point Avenue that has already drawn the opposition of many locals who live nearby.

“The woods are there, the animals, the deer are there,” Janet Korenchuk, a resident who lives across the street from the proposed site at 86 Pond Point Ave., told Milford Patch last week.

“I don’t want to see the little bit of woods destroyed,” she added.

Another neighbor cited an increase in traffic the 23-unit development would bring as reason for his opposition. And then there are the roughly 35 signs that line the entirety of Pond Point Avenue, all protesting the proposed complex.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Milford City Hall, 110 River St.
