A recent CNN Money article sites a 2011 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions survey, from the National Retail Federation which was conducted by BIGresearch.
According to the survey, nearly 40% of consumers have already started their holiday shopping and another 40% said they will begin shopping in November, while the rest plan to wait until the last minute,
The same survey also says that holiday shoppers are saying they plan to spend an average of $704.18 on gifts and other seasonal items this year, down slightly from last year's $718.98.
Additionally, 62.2% of Americans surveyed by NRF said the economy will impact their holiday spending plans and most people said sales or price discounts were the most important factors when making purchases this year.
