Our Sidewalks (User-Submitted Post)

Planning and Zoning Board candidate talks sidewalks.

Originally posted on the Milford Patch Opinion Board by Second District Planning and Zoning Board candidate Ronald Goldwyn.

Last year I met in the Mayor's office for a meeting with our Hartford delegation for an open discussion of interested subjects.

I asked how we could get the sidewalks along Seaside Avenue installed and replaced from the Fort Trumbull Beach to the Hospital.

The Mayor said only the State could repair along State Roads, but maybe the Assemblymen and Senator could get us relief.

Low and behold a contractor shows up and repairs the old sidewalk so that it is now safe for kids, seniors and the handicapped to use.

But now I have been informed that the repair work that I had been hoping for, has been paid for by City funds and not the states.

It feels like driving your Mother-in-Law off a cliff in your new Rolls Royce. Mayor- that money could have been used on the sidewalk in front of my house.

The timing is wrong when you do this just before election day.
