Milford's High School Math programming is very strong for next year. All incoming freshman will be required to take 4.0 Math credits. This plan provides a clear path for both College and Career readiness in Math, including several AP courses and a course in Advance Decision Making. (Math section begins on page 16 of doc.)

Why doesn't our school system offer Mandarin and Asian Studies to better understand this part of the world.

Maybe there is not enough interest by students or educator available who could teach such a class? I'm sure that if there was enough interest shown the school board would create such a class, or better yet an after school club/activity. I'd think the after school thing would be much easier to make happen.

Not sure if it would work for Mandarin language class, but here is an idea to create a broader set of classes for students. The idea would be to have different school districts offer different classes that are videotaped or piped into the classroom of other districts...For instance, Milford creates class A that can be viewed in Stratford, Orange, West Haven, etc. Stratford creates class B, that can be viewed in the other school districts, etc... Connecticut is unique in that it has so many individual school districts that each district, by themselves, would necessarily have a difficult time offering the broadest range of classes...if the school districts pooled resources, who knows?
