Milford Resident is Orange's Newest Cop

Jeffrey Robertson is making the jump from being a firefighter to a police officer.

Milford resident Jeffrey Robertson is the newest member of the Orange Police Department. Robertson, 31, was sworn in during a ceremony earlier this week.

Service Runs in the Family

Robertson is a 1999 graduate of Darien High School who earned a bachelor's degree from RIT in 2004. He joined the Orange Volunteer Fire Department in 2010 and was honored as Firefighter of the Year in 2011.

A history of service to others runs in his family. Robertson's father, Charles, is a U.S. Marine who served in Vietnam and earned the Silver Star and Navy Cross. His brother, Neil, is a Norwalk police officer.

Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne said, "He'll bring the same passion and committment that made him Firefighter of the Year to this department, and we're lucky to have him. The town of Orange is lucky to have him."

Robertson graduated from the CT Police Academy on Jan. 25. He now will go out on the road with a field training officer (FTO) for 400 hours and then will proceed to an assignment in the patrol division.
