The second grade students of in Milford learned how to live smarter by visiting SmartLiving (TM) Center in Orange. The students learned the importance of the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle by participating in various interactive programs demonstrating how we can conserve energy.
These budding scientists used a plasma ball that demonstrated static electricity and electrical current, and also flexed their muscles in the crank room while taking turns using a hand-powered generator to power home appliances.
Many of the students were surprised to learn that their Xbox's use as much power as their refrigerator! Our class was excited to take part in this wonderful, complimentary program at SmartLiving managed by The United Illuminating Company and funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.
