St. Mary School Receives Award

Greetings! On behalf of the entire St. Mary School family, welcome to our new blog.

Greetings! On behalf of the entire St. Mary School family, welcome to our new blog.

We are excited to have the opportunity to spread the word about our school and our students' achievements. There are a lot of wonderful things happening at our school that we are very proud of.

For instance, before we left for February vacation, an honor was bestowed upon us by The Bridgeport Rescue Mission. Our school was awarded with the first ever Mission Ambassador Award honoring our efforts during Catholic Schools Week.

Our students, led by 6th grader Julia Bryant who organized the drive, collected close to 1,400 pairs of new children’s socks to be distributed to needy youth throughout the area. Jennifer Christie-Jump, Church Relations Manager for The Bridgeport Rescue Mission, visited our school to thank our students for their efforts.

The school sent the socks back with her along with a special prayer led by Principal Frank Lacerenza. We prayed that the recipients know the students at SMS will keep them in their hearts and continue to pray for them and their families. We look forward to continuing our commitment to service and building a relationship with TBRM. Congratulations to all our students for a job well done!
