St. Mary School Drama Club Presents "The Addams Family"

"The Addams Family" delights St. Mary School Friends and Family

The Saint Mary School Drama Club 2012 recently presented their production of
"The Addams Family", based on Charles Addams' beloved cartoons and TV series in the 1960's. On May 21, the 25 drama students (5th through 8th grade) performed two shows, a mid-day in-school production for classmates and an evening show that night for friends and family. This year's play was an original adaptation written by St. Mary's drama director, Lisa Lelas (former NY casting director and founder of the former 'Soap Set Acting Studio' in Milford). This year's
presentation marks Lelas' 17th annual drama production at St. Mary's. The show's assistant director and backstage helper, this year, was Lisa's teen daughter, Lindsay Lelas.

The show follows the Addams family as they present their annual Halloween party and reunite with their long lost 'Uncle Fester', played by 8th grader, David Carelli. The lead roles of Gomez and Morticia Addams were brilliantly executed by Matthew Bader (8th grade) and Christine Walsh (8th grade). Samantha Phelan (7th grade) transformed herself into an amazing Wednesday Addams, as did Sean Hayes (6th grade) as her brother, Pugsley. Grandmama was comically played by Julia Petalcorin (6th grade) and perhaps, aside from Gomez, the character of 'Thing' (played by 6th grade student, Catie Stiffler) received the most audience laughter!

Congratulations to this year's Drama Club's Shining Star Award recipients: Matthew Bader, Christine, Walsh, David Carelli, Victoria Savoca, and Clare Wetmore.
