SMS Olympics a Big Hit!

Like so many activities at St. Mary School, it showed what a great family atmosphere exists and how much fun we all can have when we work together.

This past Tuesday, the teachers and students of St. Mary School celebrated their own Olympics. It's a great example of the fun things we do here at SMS. The students all wore their gym uniforms and were ready for an afternoon of friendly competition.

Each of our full time teachers coached a team made up of a cross section of students from the Preschool full day program through grade 8.

Principal Lacerenza said, “It was magnificent!”

There were many stations with games such as “Musical Chairs.” Two teams spent about 5 minutes at each station participating in the event. At the end, the entire school made a circle in the gym as the 8th graders led a game of Simon Says.

ALL the children cooperated. ALL worked as a team. The smiles were priceless.

The older students helped the little ones & the little ones looked up to the older students.

Thank you to the major organizers of this event: Mr. Bliss, Miss Frampton and Mrs. Huyser.  Thanks also to all the teachers: Mrs. Calendrillo, Miss Nolan, Mrs. Eisenhandler, Mrs. Kisiel, Mrs. Crotta, Mrs. DeCarlo, Miss Frampton, Mrs. Dunne, Mrs. Birge, Mrs. Cianciolo, Miss Wandelear, Mrs. Adler, Mrs. Huyser, Miss Rappa, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Richards who did their part leading and coaching their teams.

But thanks most of all to the CHILDREN, for putting smiles on everyone’s faces and showing how well they all could work together while still having fun.
