Brownies Make a Difference on Earth Day

St. Mary School Brownies Celebrate Earth Day

Brownie Troop # 303328, respresenting the second grade at St. Mary School, has been working hard on a Wonders of Water, or WOW, project all year. This project has helped them learn about water all around the world and how to conserve it and to share with others the message about saving water.  As part of the project the girls made signs that were placed in the school bathrooms and at the water fountains reminding people to save water.  In addition, they selected the Haiti Water Project as the recipient of a donation they will make by using some of the cookie money they earned this year.  Due to the girls hard work in selling cookies they will be able to donate money to purchase two water filtration and chlorination systems for our sister parish, St. Therese, in Maribal Haiti.  These 2 systems will provie clean water to approximately 20 people.  The Troop will also be taking a trip to the Norwalk Maritime Center to continue learning about water.

As we celebrate Earth Day, the girls would like to encourage everyone to use water wisely EVERYDAY and remember to recycle, use refillable water bottles, shut off faucets when not in use, and to use recycled rain water for watering plants.
