Author Michelle Hydeck Visits St. Mary School For Reading & Book Signing

Local Author Goes Back To Where It All Started

After reading the Milford Patch's "4 The Arts" column recently, we learned that local author Michelle Hydeck not only graduated from St. Mary School, but that she decided she would become a writer during an assignment in her 2nd grade class.  http://milford.patch.com/articles/a-chat-w-milford-author-michelle-hydeck

When we saw that story we thought we'd contact her and see if she'd like to come back to where it all started and do a reading for our students.  What has blossomed from that one email has been the start of a wonderful friendship.  Michelle didn't hesitate and agreed to come back to her old school and share a reading of her book Wings Up - All With A Little Help From Our Angels.  The story about how angels are always with us inspired our students and teachers when she, and her daughter Emma, read the book so eloquently.  We are very grateful to Michelle for writing this wonderful story and for returning to SMS and giving back to where her love of writing was ignited.

Students and teachers also got a chance to purchase signed copies of the book which were beautifully packaged with a symbolic feather that is featured in the story.

Oh, and did I mention the visit appeared on News12 - it was an exciting and fun visit - thank you again to Michelle & her family for their generosity.
