HCC President Gliniecki Is New Rotary President

Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe has been elected president of the Bridgeport Rotary Club, a branch of Rotary International.

BRIDGEPORT ‑ Housatonic Community College President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe has been elected president of the Bridgeport Rotary Club, a branch of Rotary International.

Gliniecki has been a member of Rotary since 2005. She joined Housatonic in 2003 as academic dean. She served in that position until July, 2006, when she was named acting president.  She was appointed president the following year.

During her tenure at Housatonic, Gliniecki oversaw the opening of Beacon Hall, the 173,000 sq. ft. addition to the HCC campus. The college is currently planning the expansion and renovation of Lafayette Hall, the first building on the Lafayette St. campus.

Gliniecki has been instrumental in achieving significant grants for the college, including Achieving the Dream, the Developmental Education Initiative from the Gates Foundation, and state support for the new Regional Advanced Manufacturing Center.

Prior joining Housatonic, she was vice president for academic services at St. Clair Community College, Port Huron, Michigan. At St. Clair, she was also dean of instruction; dean of applied arts and sciences; dean of nursing, allied health and occupational studies; and dean of nursing.

The Rotary Club is a volunteer service organization whose mission is to support education and job training; provide clean water; combat hunger; improve health and sanitation; and eradicate polio. Currently, Rotary International has teamed up with the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation to eradicate polio worldwide.
