The Watermark at 3030 Park Presents Documentary screening on South American Jungle Conservation

On Sunday, January 26, The Watermark at 3030 Park will host a free screening of “La Selva Tranquila,” a Resonator Films documentary that describes conservation efforts in the Peruvian Amazon. The event will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the retirement community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.

“La Selva Tranquila” presents an original look at conservation in this region by interweaving three stories of locals who must cut, capture and sell anything they can to survive and support their families. The film details the daily lives of the people who call this region home, and how they struggle each day at the jungle’s expense, while striving to protect that very same land.

“At The Watermark we try to enhance cultural and global awareness of our residents and guests,” said Tracy-Ann Samuel, Community Life Director at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “We hope all those that come to watch this documentary leave with a greater appreciation of how other cultures around the world live.”

The documentary was written and directed by Easton native Christian Chapman and Fairfield native Paul Jason Hoffman. Hoffman – whose grandmother Edna is a resident of The Watermark –currently produces video content for Sachs Insights, a market research firm in New York City. Chapman resides in New York City where he is an Operations Manager and guest curator at the Maysles Documentary Center. A third writer and director – Cody Troyer of Denver, Colorado – also contributed to the film. The group hopes to continue writing and producing a wide variety of video content including music videos, short documentaries and narrative films.

Both Hoffman and Chapman will be attending the screening, and will be available for a Q&A session after the film.

This event is free of charge and open to the public. For more information please contact The Watermark at 3030 Park at 203-374-5611. For more information on “La Selva Tranquila,” please visit www.resonatorfilms.com.
