Top 5 Cars to Survive a Sharknado

The SyFy channel's newest movie has become a viral hit: Sharknado, a water spout that lifts great whites out of the ocean and spits them back out on land, is without a doubt a frightening idea. And, it got us thinking: if a Sharknado did descend on the coasts of the US, which car would make the best getaway? Here are our picks:

A Hummer Alpha is a good choice for a Sharknado getaway car because it offers plenty of space for cargo and family, as well as protection from chomping shark jaws. The modern Hummers are based off of the old Humvee's, military-grade trucks.

The Ford F-350 offers great protection, and also has a 6.2L V8 engine that's great for making a quick getaway. 

Mazda is known for making some of the fastest cars, which will come in handy during a Sharknado attack. This makes a great getaway car for one or two people without much cargo to bring along.

A Toyota Prius Hybrid, or any other hybrid, is deserving of some consideration in the event you are running for your life from a shark-infested water spout. Thanks to the hybrid technology, you won't have to stop as much for gas, giving you a better chance of getting away.

Last on our list of potential Sharknado getaway cars is the Chevrolet Suburban. As with the Hummer and F-350, the Suburban offers plenty of cargo space and protection from the outside. Pile in with 8 of your closest friends as you wait out the chaos.
