Non-Profits Winners in Unique Contest
Milford, CT – Local businessman Greyson Schwing has launched a unique ‘challenge’ contest that will plant thousands of dollars in benefits into the coffers of a few local non-profit charities. The program, ‘Extreme Charity Makeover’ will benefit the winner with a $10,000 marketing and website makeover, a grant for $10,000 in Google Adwords credit, and a fundraising party event at Harbor Arena on December 7, 2013 from 4pm – 6pm. In addition the two runners up will also receive a new website and a portion of the proceeds from the fundraising party.
According to Schwing, “I wanted to celebrate my fifth year business anniversary by giving back to the community in a positive way. There are so many non-profits who need help with their online presence and marketing, yet have no budget for these items. I brainstormed with my Antelope Web team and we crafted an idea for a unique contest to benefit one winning non-profit in a big way.” The Extreme Charity Makeover contest is open to any legitimate (501c3) charity in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT. Over 25 non-profits were nominated as contestants includingMilford Historical Society, Young Parent Program of Milford, Connecticut Challenge, VFW-7788 in Devon, United Way of Milford, The Kennedy Center, Literacy Center of Milford, Children’s Community Programs of CT, Boys and Girls Club of Milford, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, the Milford Chamber of Commerce Trust Fund, Make a Difference, Inc., Good Shepherd and East Shore Child Development Centers, Milford Relay for Life, Bodie’s Place, Junior League of Greater New Haven, Open Door Shelter, Sterling House Community Center, CT Challenge, JCC (Jewish Community Center) of Greater New Haven, TEAM, Inc., and Beth-El Center in Milford .
Funds are being raised to support the award and event activities. Finalist contestants will create a display and participate in a series of interviews and events to compete for the grand prize. They attended a celebrity mixer in November at the Blank Space Gallery, 8 Broad Street, Milford, CT.
The winning charity will be announced at the fundraising event at Harbor Arena in Bridgeport on Saturday, December 7th before the Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey game. Tickets to attend the awards ceremony and fundraising event are now available online at http://www.extremecharitymakeover.us for individuals wishing to support and celebrate the finalist contestants. Tickets to attend the Hockey Game can also be purchased separately. Admission will also include a ticket for the hockey game immediately following the event.
The contest organizers are proud to announce the first celebrity judge spot is now filled: Suzanne Palmieri, local bestselling author of “The Witch of Little Italy,” is “excited to participate.” Suzanne is a large supporter of literacy programs and charities in New Haven, CT.
