The Milford Fine Arts Council Performance Coffeehouse will continue its 2012/2013 season with Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet on Friday, February 22 at 8PM.
Not your traditional mandolin quartet, Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet uses two mandolins, mandola and mandocello to play a repertoire that has never before been performed with these instruments. Instead of the expected classical music, they play unique arrangements of familiar melodies, from 60’s pop, to folk to TV theme songs.
The members of Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet are Ellen Cohn on mandolin, Colin Healy on mandola, Betsy Rome on mandolin and Gary Wikfors on mandocello. Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet made its debut in 1999 at the NOMAD festival in Newtown, CT. Since then, they have played numerous folk festivals, coffeehouses, traditional music festivals and concerts. They infuse their arrangements with a healthy dose of humor, and especially appreciate it when the audience leaps to their feet and sings along.
Tickets for the Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet Performance Coffeehouse are $15.00 ($10 MFAC members). Doors open at 7:30PM and the show starts at 8PM. Come and enjoy an intimate performance in a friendly environment. Snacks, beer and wine will be available for a nominal charge. The coffee is free. For tickets, visit www.milfordarts.org or call (203) 878-6647. Reservations are highly recommended, as Coffeehouse events sell out quickly.
