Milford Resident Fielding Passes

Bernard N. Fielding, 90, of Milford, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Milford Hospital. Born on August 21, 1920 in Lawrence, Mass, he was the son of the late Herbert and Olive Fielding. He was the husband of Helen Bernardin Fielding for 60 years. Bernie graduated from Carney Hospital of Boston in 1941 as a Registered Nurse. Enlisting in the Navy, he served with pride and honor during WWII in both the European and Pacific theatres. He also served on a PT Boat as a medic. Following the war, he completed his Bachelor's of Nursing at The George Washington University. Bernie worked as a Registered Nurse for the V.A. Hospital and continued serving in the Navy Reserves, retiring as a Chief Warren Officer Four.

In addition to his wife, Bernie is survived by his children, Denise Mohr and husband, Richard; Bernard Jr. (B.J.) Fielding and wife Kim; Andrea Thompson and husband, Jeff; Richard Fielding and wife, Beth; Helen Hallstrom and husband, Tim; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Bernie was predeceased by his daughter Christine Anne Fielding.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Mary R.C. Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford. Interment will be private.
