Following Newtown Tragedy, Kids are Free at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo from Dec. 26 - 28

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo will open its doors to children for free Wednesday, December 26 through Friday, December 28, 2012. Located just 20 miles from Newtown, Connecticut and situated on 52 acres of parkland, the zoo invites families to spend quality time together following the tragic events of last week.

“Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo has been a family destination for 90 years,” said Gregg Dancho, director, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. “Families from around our region are invited to visit their zoo and hopefully find some peace and comfort here over the holidays.”

The zoo will be open a half day on December 31. The last visitor will be admitted at Noon and the doors will close at 1:00 p.m. The zoo will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is closer than you think and is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, only closing on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Adult admission (ages 12 & older) is $12.00, children (ages 3 -11) and senior admission (62 and older) is just $10.00, and children under 3 years old are free. Zoo members also are admitted free.
