Kmart Shoplifting Suspect Arrested in Milford

Other recent arrests include drug charges, a DUI and criminal trespass at the mall.


A 28-year-old man was arrested by warrant on April 5 on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.

said the arrest stems from an incident on Feb. 26 in which the man, who police identified as Angel Torres, was allegedly involved in a shoplifting attempt at .

According to the report, an investigation revealed that an acquintance of Torres entered the store, concealed four bottles of perfume and attempted to leave without paying for them. When a store employee approached the female acquintance, Torres allegedly yelled at the employee to get back and motioned with his hand that he had a weapon.

Torres and the female then fled the store, police said. His bond was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 17.

Criminal Trespass at Mall

Two males were arrested on a charge of first-degree criminal trespass for going to the Milford Mall after failing to leave the Boston Post Road shopping center after being told to by mall representatives.

Arrested were Adam Makowski, 25, of Ansonia, and Vincent Palumbo, 27, of Seymour, at 5:30 p.m. on April 6. Both were released on a promise to appear in court on April 24.

DUI

A 45-year-old Milford woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after allegedly hitting two parked cars at 10:23 p.m. on April 6.

Police responded to Old Point Road near Elizabeth Street after receiving a report that a vehicle hit the parked cars, and arrested Sharon Mallico of Seaside Avenue, according to the report. Police said an investigation revealed Mallico was under the influence of alcohol; she refused a breathalyzer test.

Mallico's bond was set at $500 and she is scheduled to appear in court on April 26.

Drug Charges

Denise Douglas, 46, of New Haven, was arrested at 4 a.m. on April 7 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of prescription drug.

Police said the arrest was made following a routine traffic stop on Woodmont Road. Douglas, a passenger, was allegedly found in possession of several clonazepam pills that were not prescribed to her.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on April 24.
