Julie Myers Eyes Acting, Helping

The preteen spends her time doing a variety of activities at the Boys and Girls Club.

Julie, an honor student in her 5th grade class at Pumpkin Delight School, favors math and the color purple. With a smile that lights the room this bubbly 10-year-old is the first to offer a helping hand to those in need.

"She is extremely helpful to her peers and staff. We absolutely love having her as a club member," says Megan Altomare, executive director Of The Boys & Girls Club of Milford.

"I'm involved in just about every club (at The Boys & Girls Club) they have and it's so much fun," said Julie.

Julie enjoys spending the bulk of her time after school at the Boys & Girls Club where she has been a member for three years.

She especially enjoys Drama Club and was part of the production, A Modern Christmas Carol last winter.

The Drama Club suits her well as she aspires to be an actress when she grows up.

Julie is a member of the Model Club and took part in replicating the City of Milford by creating miniature models of businesses and landmarks.

Julie also helped decorate trash cans to beautify the Walnut Beach area.

An avid gymnast since age 2 and attends lessons at Polly's in Stratford.

As a self-proclaimed girly girl, Julie has a particular fondness for the Girls' Club.

What is the Girls' Club?

"We do all sorts of girl stuff--no boys allowed," Julie responds, giggling.

When Julie isn't busy with clubs she enjoys spending her downtime scrapbooking and with her pet guinea pigs, dog and rabbit.

"Outgoing, helpful and confident; she is the best daughter in the world," says her mother.
