Groups Boycotting Starbucks for Stances on Gay Rights, Guns
Separate boycotts criticize coffee chain's stances on national issues. What are your thoughts?
Some religious and political groups are urging Starbucks customers to grab their morning coffee elsewhere in light of the company's stance on gay marriage and its policy on guns.
USA Christian Ministries, a group boycotting Starbucks for its recent support of gay marriage in the state of Washington, said in a news release that the coffee chain's decision has angered Christians.
"Christians are upset with Starbucks for turning against God," Steven Andrew, president of USA Christian Ministries, said.
The group hopes that, with full support from Christians, Starbucks, which operates a location on the Boston Post Road in Milford, could lose up to 80 percent of its business.
Starbucks joined Microsoft and Nike in publicly supporting gay marriage in a statement last week, according to the Seattle Times. In its statement, Kalen Holmes, executive vice president for partner resources, said the Starbucks embraces diversity and provides an "inclusive, supportive and safe work environment" for its employees.
"This important legislation is aligned with Starbucks business practices and upholds our belief in the equal treatment of partners," the statement read. "It is core to who we are and what we value as a company."
This isn't the first time the company has made headlines for taking a stance on gay marriage. In 2011, Starbucks was among a group of 70 business and organizations opposing the Defense of Marriage Act, CNN reported.
An unrelated Feb. 14 boycott is planned to protest the company's policy allowing customers with guns to be served.
The National Gun Victims Action Council, an anti-gun group, said in a Jan. 23 news release its goal is to "eliminate the risk of guns in public places and ultimately to bring sane gun laws to the U.S."

I won't walk into that place anyway! They're over priced! and their names of sizes tick me off. God bless people who stand up! Starbucks stood up and made a choice, and Christian's now make theirs! That's America!....btw- Any chance Starbucks is doing this now because they are trying to start selling alcohol?

This "religious group" is obviously not very Christian.
Here are some of the articles you can read at the linked website.
"Voting for Mormon Romney is Betraying Jesus"
"Who is the Most God-fearing Presidential Candidate?"
"Founding Fathers Quotes About Homosexual Sin"
and of course
"Christians Boycott Starbucks – Because Romans 1 Explains Starbucks Hates God"
I don't usually go there, but I'm taking a trip to Starbucks right now to counter this stupid protest.

History proves that religion has always spread hate and torture. How many people throughout history, have been tortured and burned alive with fire for having different views? America isn't as glossy as it appears. In most other European countries, citizens have more freedom than America, without discrimination against sexual orientation. Gays are trying to live their lives, while Christians do what they do best by hating and driving people to commit suicide and to hate themselves. America is supposed to be free of religious persecution. Christians don't own America. American is for EVERYONE to enjoy. America is for all religions whether atheist, Jewish, satanic or whatever. All this judging makes me sick. God and Jesus are perfect and are to judge, not people. People who judge must be depressed about their own lives. Boycotting Starbucks is a childish act.

I don't believe religion spreads hate and torture. Despots USE religion to gain and consolidate despotic power.
And as for those Christians who spew so much hate; Stop the self loathing. Love thy self AND thy neighbor.
